Mothering Sunday 2018

What can we say? Well we love our ‘Lovely Ladies’ and took time to say this! (as well as Thank You of course.) Mothering Sunday is a special time for us to reflect. Thank you to Mrs. Walton for your organisation of our writing work for our Mums and to Mrs. Walton’s Mum for the wonderful floral gifts. A really lovely presentation and an afternoon to remember.

Lent 2018

Many thanks to our very own School Governor Father Richard & Father Paul for visiting us to discuss the period of Lent. Father Richard shared the wonderful story of Jonah and its messages around the Christian Faith. He also enjoyed one of our favourite hymns ‘Praise Him.’ Thank you yet again Father Richard and Father Paul for your support and valuable time in school.

World Thinking Day & Founders’ Day 22nd February at West Meadows

Celebrated since 1926, World Thinking Day is a day of international friendship. It is an opportunity to speak out on issues that affect young women and fundraise for 10 million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 150 countries. The day is also known as Founders’ Day, the birthday of Robert Baden-Powell, born in 1857, the founder of Scouting, and coincidentally also of his wife Olave Baden-Powell (born in 1889). Our superstars wore their uniform at West Meadows to share one of their main hobbies. A great day, well done everyone.

Candlemas 2018

Many thanks to our Local Parish Priest and School Governor Father Richard and Father Paul for leading our Assembly on Candlemas. Candlemas is a church festival staged in February in honour of the presentation of the infant Jesus in the Temple. As always it was a pleasure to welcome Father Richard and Paul in to school. The children were certainly mesmerised bythe apple device (for once not electronic) and even more shocked to see a £5 note inside the lemon! They had predicted that the lemon may not be as tasty/ attractive as the other fruits on show! A lovely morning.

Thank You & Well Done

Wow just wow! Led by our Super Sisters from Years 3 and 5 our #WonderfulCommunity raised £140 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital (a charity VERY close to this lovely family’s heart). Along with £20 from a family friend and £40 from other family members, an amazing £200 was donated. The nurses were so pleased with their visit. The money will go to PACT (Parents of children with cancer and tumours) an organisation based at the hospital and will be used to help children and families undergoing gruelling chemotherapy treatment. Incredible work, really well done.

We were delighted to welcome Stephanie Peacock MP for a special visit to West Meadows; a Christmas Card Winning Presentation! Fabulous designs were submitted from a collection of schools and children of all primary school ages within Stephanie’s constituency. Our two runners-up came from EYFS 2 and Year 3. However, the OVERALL winner and the design which Stephanie will sign 2000 times has come from our very own Year 6 superstar! He received a £50 Tesco voucher as well as a £10 book voucher for his stunning effort. A wonderful Friday at West Meadows. Thank you Stephanie – a pleasure to welcome you to school.

Core Visit for the Choir

The Choir entertained and performed yesterday at The Core in Barnsley for the residential care unit. The residents loved the children’s performance and we also performed a social Happy Birthday for Margaret. The Choir did our school and #WonderfulCommunity very proud yesterday! A lovely day and we will return later in the year to perform again. Well Done Choir!
