Memorable Homework

This Year 5 superstar has produced some wonderful work at home. Based upon the 100 year end to WW1, she has been inspired by the efforts of the Royal British Legion and our #WonderfulCommunity in raising money and awareness for this wonderful cause. Some sensational work, really well done.

Winter Athletics 2018

We attended the Key Stage 2 St. Mary’s Academy Trust Winter Athletics Competition at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield. The magnificent venue inspired our Key Stage 2 Team as we emulated our younger stars by collecting the trophy! Thank you to everyone who supported us – the West Meadows’ Backing was huge! An enormous well done to Miss Grange and the team who provided us with anyone unforgettable afternoon of awesome athletics. A great achievement.

Walk Zones

BikeIt Dave and Year 5 have been out and about posting signage of 5 and 10 minute walks to school! Promoting fitness, the children researched appropriate spots to reveal the walking distances to school. They had a great afternoon. Well done everyone.

Enterprise Challenge 2018

Year 5 had a fabulous day with Paul Robson from Primary Enterprise Challenge. The children worked in groups to prepare a sales pitch for their own Radio Show. They used a range of Enterprise Skills including costing, profits and working out salaries for presenters. They considered the time on air – adverts, music and presenter talk all had to be considered! The promotion of the show was also a key factor before a  Dragon’s Den type pitch to the judges – who were led by Mrs. O’loughlin. Our two finalists will represent West Meadows, one group at Tankersley Manor and one at our Academy Trust Finals. The children were superb. Thank you to Paul and Mrs. Evans for providing such an exciting day. Well done everyone.

Disaster Day in Year 5

Year 5 had worked tirelessly to create some beautiful villages, towns and cities across the world last week. Their models were fantastic! However, this week, we were greeted by a news flash… natural disasters across the globe were occurring! We filmed the disasters as they happened. Some excellent if rather destructive cross curricular work on display in Year 5

Year 5 Cookery Stars

Mrs. Beever and Mrs. Maree have been cooking with Year 5. They made some delicious savoury muffins – ingredients included cheese, ham and onion. The produce certainly went down well with Year 5 – we can’t wait to see what’s on the menu next time!
