Wonderful Writing

Miss Jobling has been bowled over by the quality of our independent writers in EYFS. They have been enjoying ‘Farmer Duck’ so much that the authors here have created their own versions of the story. Some terrific work, really well done everyone.

EYFS Scrapbook Magic

Wow! This young man was given a challenge – ‘Make a scrapbook all about you!’ We couldn’t wait to show his efforts. The pencil that he used for his writing has been scanned so that it is visible, it has changed his pictures slightly in terms of colour. The writing and then reading is of a tremendous standard. Really well done, challenge accepted, challenge met! What could be next we wonder?

EYFS 2 Library Visit

F2 went to the library. On the walk into Hoyland they looked at all the different types of houses, terraced, semi-detached, detached, bungalows and flats. They talked about the different shops and buildings that they passed. At the library we met Debbie, we found out about different types of books Fiction and Non Fiction. Debbie also told us about libraries and how to join the library. We listened to some stories and joined in with some actions. We went on a character search  to find all the characters in the story, and find out who was missing. We have all got a special book pack to take home, we loved the library. On the walk back to school we had a number search we found lots of numbers on doors, buses, bins, signs and phone numbers. Miss Jobling was really proud because we talked about which number was the biggest and recognised numbers past 200. A super morning, well done everyone.

EYFS 2 Traffic Survey

EYFS 2 had a great time measuring and recording the various types of traffic seen around West Meadows. They recorded their observations using a Tally Chart and were surprised at the range of transport that they saw within a short and cold amount of time! Some super learning, well done to everybody.

Knowledge and Understanding of the World

So where else better to explore than Sheffield? EYFS 2 had a brilliant day in Sheffield. After battling with the early morning snow, they took a coach to Elsecar Station and then loved catching the train to Sheffield. They enjoyed the transport, comparing different buildings in Sheffield and of course the magnificent Millennium Square and station fountains. Many thanks to our volunteers who accompanied the children, the day certainly tired them out as they slept on the way back to school! A wonderful day, well done everybody.
