Extraordinary Engineering

When do we learn to become engineers? Of course, at West Meadows it all starts in our Nursery! Using our computer, and interactive screen, this young man has already shown tremendous application and an interest in the motor industry. Some fabulous work, really well done!

Impressing with Scratch

In ICT club this superstar created his own take on the classic penny fall game. He worked out the timing of the ball falling, the angle in which it needed to fall from each stage and the rotation of the ball as it fell. Fabulous coding work!

Year 2 Coding Star

Some amazing Block Coding from Year 2. This young man worked out how to program the ball, spin it as it was kicked and then stop in an appropriate place. Independent problem solving and thinking skills of the highest order. Well done!

Year 1 Block Code

Year 1 have moved their Block Code knowledge from the iPad to the main ICT suite in school. The ‘Scratch Juniors’ are now officially ‘Scratch Seniors!’ Enjoy some superb block code right here.

Year 4 Algorithm & Code

Year 4 have been using Scratch for their final half term. They have consolidated their Block Coding knowledge and are now able to visualise how code may work before even thinking of writing it using the PC. They are also debugging their own errors in code without adult help – fantastic achievements! Their knowledge will culminate in the production of their own game by the end of the year.

Year 2 Wild Things

Year 2 have been working on turning their favourite class book in to an audio movie. They have recorded their own narration, taken images and arranged them in Microsoft PowerPoint using a range of transitions that have helped to bring their books to life. They shared their results with Year 1 who thought their work was amazing.

Year 1 Scratch

Year 1 have used Scratch Junior on our iPads to produce some amazing ICT work. The children have used different animals and programmed them to do different things – even basketball shooting! Well done and thank you to Miss Grange for leading this session – fantastic work and well done everyone.

Perfect PowerPoint

In ICT this term, year 3 have been showing off their amazing work on the recycled bottle green house using PowerPoint. Mrs Roberts has been so impressed by their knowledge, presentation and ICT skills. We’ve used transitions, animations and themes to show off our work.

Dynamic Drones

We hosted Teach 24 for a fantastic Assembly where they demonstrated the power of Code! Many tasks to our Assembly Hosts, the children absolutely loved the drones – especially the one which flew perilously close to Mr. Smith! A super morning inspired by iPad tech!
