Remembrance 2017

We were honoured to attend the Hoyland Remembrance Ceremony on Sunday. Our friend and Governor led the moving and thought provoking commemoration accompanied by Rockingham Brass Band. Many thanks to Mrs. Walton and the children and their families on School Council for their time in representing the West Meadows Community.

NED Assembly

The NED Show – NEVER give up, ENCOURAGE others and DO your best visited West Meadows this week all the way from the USA. Gary entertained our whole school with a terrific show that incorporated humour, amazing Yo-Yo skills and some superb messages for our amazing children. The School Council are holding Yo-Yo sales – thanks to Mrs. Walton and they are ‘flying off the shelves!’ We were lucky to host such a skilled showman and loved the messages we heard. Thank you, Gary, we hope your worldwide shows are as successful in sharing your message as the one we so luckily received at West Meadows.

Pennies for Pudsey

We staged a non uniform day at West Meadows in support of the BBC Children in Need appeal. The support was terrific from our #WonderfulCommunity as a range of outfits were on show! We also took up the challenge to ‘Cover Pudsey in Pennies!’ Thank you to the School Council for their leadership around this special day.

Remembrance 2016

We were honoured to take part in the Hoyland Remembrance Parade and Service as the town’s #WonderfulCommunity came together. Our School Council laid out wreath to give thanks to fallen heroes from the local area. The size of the gathering was amazing and we are truly thankful to take part in it. A beautiful, thought provoking morning. We Will Remember Them.

School Council Visit to Parliament

Our wonderful School Council had an amazing trip to London & the Houses of Parliament. Setting off at 7am, the children were accompanied by Mis Knox, Mrs. Walton & Mrs. Marsh. They arrived in our Capital City at around 12pm and enjoyed an amazing experience on The London Eye. The views were breathtaking. They then arrived at Parliament where they received a tour of the building (in the Queen’s Footsteps) and took part in an amazing workshop that focussed on democracy. The children appreciated the stop at Burger King on the way home and eventually returned to Hoyland at about 10:00. Thank you to all of our staff and the amazing School Council for embracing this wonderful opportunity.

Meeting One!

Our wonderful, new School Council met for the first time and were quick to begin formulating the West Meadows Golden Rules. They also had plenty of suggestions for Mr. Wood & Mrs. Walton to discuss at Staff Meeting. Also on the agenda was news of an exciting trip – keep logging on to westmeadows.org.uk to find out just where the School Council may be heading!

Election Time

Our School has been enjoying ‘Election Time’ during the early part of the year. Children from classes 3-6 (Key Stage 2) have been voting for the Councillors in their class. All interested candidates have given a pitch! Good luck everybody!
